The life of a yogi

We all know how hard it is to start and maintain a new habit. At this stage so many of our new years resolutions have already dissolved.. Setting yourself up for success is not a simple task.

Asserting self discipline and tough love can only take us so far, before our long-term habits get the better of us. To set yourself up for success it is important to create favourable conditions that will lead you towards your goal in a more natural manner.

A simple example is if you want a morning practice you need to get to bed early. If you want to get to bed early you need to remove stimulation at night. Therefore removing electronics and having a relaxation bath to ensure early sleep may make it easier to wake up an hour earlier. Easier said than done.

Yoga is an incredible healing modality that requires commitment and regularity.I am proud to say more and more of my students are rising up to the challenge of incorporating yoga into their daily life.

Authentic yoga s definitely not just an exercise class. As a practising yogi, you learn to live life in a very different and beneficial manner. Discovering how to have a relationship with yourself is a pivotal part of yoga. We learn how to turn our attention inwards ( involution) driving it deeper and deeper into our being on all levels, physical, emotional and spiritual.

A yogi learns how to be in this world but not of this world. In otherwords we learn how to engage in wordly experiences always with the backdrop that something deeper and more permanent exists within us. We learn to take all experiences for what they are, temporary and constantly changing. The purpose of yoga is toanchor us in the sea of inevitable change.
