About Romy

Romy brings a unique combination of intricate science fused with the ancient teachings of yoga, meditation and Reiki. In her early years, she immersed herself in the sciences, completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of South Africa with a deep focus on microbiology and genetics, followed by a Master of Science at Sydney University. Since then, she has spent well over two decade studying neuroscience, yoga, philosophy, Reiki and meditation. Over 22 years ago, a neck injury involving five cervical bulging discs left Romy in excruciating pain. She turned to yoga to heal. In 2009, Romy was introduced to Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher, Peter Thomson. Peter’s methodology strongly resonated with Romy. Romy is now fortunate to study directly with Peter Thomson himself. Romy’s yoga is highly individualised, using a wide range of props to support you in going deeper into each pose. Romy has studied philosophy for over 10 years at the School of Practical Philosophy in Sydney, where she was taught mindfulness and meditation drawn from the teachings of great philosophers, both Eastern and Western. Fifteen years ago, she was introduced to the sacred Japanese healing modality of Reiki. She studied it intensely at the International House of Reiki, where she completed her Masters Certificate, and later trained in Japan with Gakkai member Hiroshi Doi, as well as with Japanese Reiki Master Hyakuten Inamoto.
